Advocating for Undocumented Minors
October 29: 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
The Nebraska CASA Association is pleased to announce a free virtual training, entitled, “Undocumented Minors and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status.” This presentation will explore how to handle undocumented minors in the juvenile court and what impact your advocacy could have on their immigration journey. With a specific emphasis on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), it will explore relief options available to minor clients and include an overview of what immigration matters you must consider making sure the minor has the best future possible. Finally, it will consider any impact a juvenile court proceeding could have on your client’s federal immigration journey. Anne Wurth is a Senior Attorney in charge of Pro Bono Coordination at Immigrant Legal Center. Immigrant Legal Center is a non-profit legal service provider that works to provide high quality legal services, advocacy, and education for our community members. Anne provides direct representation to clients who may qualify for a form of immigration relief, including immigrant children who are in the child welfare system. Anne manages ILC’s Pro Bono Program coordinating attorneys from the private bar who want to volunteer their time with our non-profit law firm.
