SUMMARY:Examining the Connections of PTSD and Cardiovascular Disease
DESCRIPTION:Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is associated with a greater risk of cardiovascular disease as compared to the general population. Individuals with PTSD are more likely to have myocardial infarction\, stroke\, and heart failure. They are also more likely to have cardiac risk factors\, such as hypertension and endothelial dysfunction. \nAccording to Seligowski\, the link between PTSD and cardiovascular disease is so strong that\, in 2018\, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) began bringing together experts to establish the state of the literature and identify gaps and priorities for future research. \nClick here to view this training. \nPlease submit a short summary or a certificate (if received) to Alexis to receive 1 hour of continuing education.
