SUMMARY:What Works for Addiction and Child Welfare?
DESCRIPTION:In this module\, addiction and recovery interventions and their relevance to child welfare practice are discussed. The module covers screening for problematic alcohol use and useful tools. Three psychosocial interventions that work well for addiction are covered: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)\, Motivational Interviewing\, and 12-Step Facilitation. Substance abuse is prevalent in child welfare cases. Casework practice in regards to addiction and child welfare is covered\, as well as policies relevant to both substance abuse and child welfare. A literature review is discussed and available for further information. Ultimately\, what works best for addiction depends on the individual\, the substance\, and the social environment and this module provides an introduction for child welfare workers to learn more about what can help. \nClick here to view this training. \nPlease submit a short summary or a certificate (if received) to Alexis to receive 1 hour of continuing education.
