Sibling Relationships: Child Welfare Perspectives

March 27: 9:00 am - 11:00 am

The sibling relationship is believed to be one of the longest and most enduring relationships most people will ever have. In child welfare, questions often arise about how and when best to preserve this relationship. We are often faced with the dilemma of placing siblings together or whether it is in the best interest of one or all to be placed separately. This training will examine these issues in the context of understanding the history of child welfare and how collective societal values have changed over the years. It will also examine how values impact policies and ultimately our decisions. This training will also explore key components in evaluating sibling relationships in an effort to improve decision-making.
